In great condition for its age and useage is this American WW2 aviators kit bag, AN 6505-1. This heavy cotton canvas kit bag was used by flight crew to carry the parachute and flight gear to the aircraft. The best and most durable bag I’ve ever owned and that I swear by. Becoming very rare to find and the stenciling of “Wilson H.L”, on all 4 sides, the GI’s name is an added bonus. Use this as a travel bag, a flea market bag, an overnight bag, you name it you can use it. With 5 internal pockets on the inside and a 2 section talon zipper top. Made at the Naval Aircraft Factory in Philadelphia, the factory was created to help the naval supply issues from 1917-1945. The Navy Department concluded that it was necessary to build a Navy-owned aircraft factory in order to assure a part of its aircraft supply; to obtain cost data for the department’s guidance in its dealings with private manufacturers; and to have under its own control a factory capable of producing experimental designs. The bag Measures approximately 24” x 20” x 12”
