Vintage Solid 18k Yellow Gold Plique-à-Jour Large Egyptian Revival Horus Falcon Pendant/Brooch

In absolute meticulous condition, old plique-à-jour pieces like you see here are so hard to find in general, but finding them in this condition with all the stained glass perfectly in place is a needle in the haystack. 1970’s era Egyptian revival crafted out of a thick, solid, and heavyweight glowing 18k yellow gold and sparkling enamel this is the God Horus as a falcon representing the sky god and divine protector of the living pharaoh. Inspired by the pectoral chest plate found in the tomb of King Tut from 3300 years ago the outstretched wings and tail symbolizing protection wrapping around the wearer are flooded with beautiful translucent blue, red-orange, and white plique-à-jour giving it that perfect stained glass effect technique. Clutched in the claws and above the head are carved carnelian stones representing the solar/eternal elements of the shen rings and amulets. A large size spanning 3” x 2.5” with a heavyweight of 33.3g the pendant has two bails on each top of the wing for the necklace to span the entire width as it also doubles as a brooch to be worn with the pin. An extravagant showstopper this piece of jewelry will stop people dead in their tracks to just have one look at its opulence.
