Vintage Solid 14k Yellow Gold Large Heavyweight Medusa Rodanini Ring (9)

There were a few versions of the gorgon, Medusa, in history past. Though grotesque and vile, during the ancient Hellenistic period (4th-5th Century BC) she was created as beautiful and human like thus known as Medusa Rodanini. This is the version that Versace chose to emblazon on all of their pieces which helped make the Italian fashion house infamous all over the world. I found this same ring over 2.5 years ago but in solid sterling silver and now years later another has fatefully landed in my lap yet this time cast in a solid 14k yellow gold. Large and heavyweight with a chunky take up on the finger at approximately 25mm x 26mm and a hefty 19.5g it shows up on the mandrel at a size:8.5 but due to its open backed face could fit more closer to at least a size:9. Emblazoned with blue sapphires for her eyes and pinkish-red sapphires for the eyes of the winged serpents protruding out through her hair. A true statement piece, this not only will cast the gaze of lookers by but might just turn them into stone!
