If I could only pick one stone to look at for the rest of my life it would be this Mexican fire agate. At different angles, lighting, and appearance you can see something new in this stone as it is a chameleon ever changing colors and shapes the more you decide to stare at it. The vibrant iridescent rainbow colors of purple, orange, greens, browns, yellows found within the fire agate are just like that in mother-of-pearl, it is caused by the alternating silica and iron oxide layers which diffract and allow light to pass and form an interference of colors within the microstructure layering of the stone causing the fire effect for which it is named. This signet ring made by hand sometime around the 1950’s has a heavy comfort fit and crafted out of solid 10k yellow gold with textured side shanks and mirror finish bottom so it can be sized up or down if need be weighing in at 9.4g and sized 9.75. These are very hard to come by and I’ve only ever found one before.
