1980’s New Old Stock Solid Platinum 2.5ctw Natural Colombian Emerald and VS Diamond Ring (7.75)

In 1985 a jeweler out of Panama City,Fl went down to Colombia on a hunting trip. This trip was for a dual purpose, while out there he also sourced some of the finest Columbian emeralds and commissioned them to be made into high quality jewelry for his local store. This is one of the few pieces that miraculously is still available after all of those years and I was lucky enough to purchase. Though I probably shouldn’t say it but this is my personal favorite of the 4 rings currently available from this lot. Crafted out of a solid and dense platinum the middle is invisible set with 11 vivid deep green natural princess cut Colombian emeralds totaling approximately 1.1ctw while set above and below are 24 natural vs diamonds with excellent color totaling around 1.4ctw. Fitting a size:7.75 on the mandrel and weighing in at a hefty 12.4g with a wide stance on the finger at 7.5mm it has a comfortable fit as it has a solid and ornately carved inside backing. Platinum is roughly 15-30 times more rare than gold and not too long ago was worth more than gold. As it’s also more difficult for jewelers to work with you will find that platinum rings of this caliber fetch way higher premiums when you are lucky enough to even come across them.
