Carved out of a Tagua nut from the ivory palm sometime in the 17th-18th century is this very intricate noh mask. This is called a “netsuke” and was adorned as part of Japanese traditional dress as an amulet toggle attached to a storage container by which an article may be attached to the sash of a kimono. The necklace is 14k yellow gold measuring 18” and is included as well.
