1600’s Philip III Silver 8 Reales Shipwreck Coin 14k Yellow Gold Pendant

A true piece of sea salvaged history this authentic Philip III 8 Reales Silver Shipwreck Coin (1598-1621) was custom mounted in a 14K yellow gold pendant. Struck over 200 years ago in either Bolivia (potosi) or Mexico City, this legendary “piece of eight” carries the rich patina and character of centuries at sea. While the original certificate has been lost over the 30 plus years after this piece was made, its authenticity is evident in the coin’s age and detail. Though it can’t be proven for certain now due to the missing paperwork this coin was probably pulled up from the Atocha shipwreck in 1985 as that was one of the only discovered shipwrecks to find such a load. The handcrafted bezel includes a sturdy oversized hinged shackle bail with the entire piece weighing in at a hefty 21.4g while measuring just under 2” x 1.5”. A rare piece at an incredible deal these do not come up often for affordable price points.
